Library Resources

Some tips for using the College Library, plus details of how to access University of Essex Library facilities. See the Library Pages for further information:

Remember, the library is there for your benefit - please make use of it. Notes from lectures alone will NOT be adequate to achieve good grades. You need to read around the subject and research extra material to that provided by tutors.

Your ID card, issued at registration, also acts as your Library card for the whole of your time at Writtle College so please take care of it. All information kept on your Library record remains confidential and no items can be issued without a Library card. You are responsible for items issued on your card so do net lend your card, or books borrowed on it, to anybody else.

You will be given a brief tour of the library at induction, and a more detailed tour, including use of the data-bases and electronic journal access a few weeks later. Please make yourself familiar with the library layout and how to access information both on and off site.

Library opening times and details of the facilities available to you are published in the Student Handbook for Higher Education Students, and on the Library Pages.

Writtle College students studying University validated degrees may use the Albert Sloman Library at the University of Essex for reference purposes on application to the Librarian. Part time and distance students (HE) may apply to use the University of Essex Library through the UK LIbraries Plus scheme; details from Writtle College Library. The links to Essex are:
